I recorded myself typing on my corsair k95 rgb platinum. This is a keyboard with cherry mx brown mechanical switches and has a tactile feel to it. I recorded this with a audio-technica at2020 condenser microphone w/ pop filter and shock mount.

His is an mp3 version of the typing. Its a chery mx blue switch keyboard and is actual typing. Feel free to use it in anything.

The slider is not actually clear but colourless (in effect, translucent white). The word clear is cherry's own designation to distinguish it from the older cherry mx white which is a clicky switch. Older types of the "white" also have translucent white sliders and are therefore visually indistinguishable from clears. The cherry mx tactile grey switch is used for space bars in keyboards with cherry mx clear switches. It has a similarly-shaped stem but a stiffer spring. Mx clear is reported to have first appeared in 1989; however, it was included in a march 1988 numbering system datasheet for mx switches so it is assumed to have been in production in 1988 or earlier. Typing (real words!) on a kinesis advantage keyboard with cherry mx brown mechanical switches. Recorded at my desk with rode procaster, triton fethead, focusrite scarlett 2i2 into audacity. Untreated room (hence dynamic mic) but noise remoived with audacity. I needed this for my own purposes so i thought i'd upload it. I hope someone finds it useful :).

I had downloaded two mechanical keyboard sounds from this site one that fell under creative commons: https://freesound. Org/people/dasgoat/sounds/361703/. And the other that uses attribution: https://freesound. Org/people/mattruthsound/sounds/561681/. The very free one had to much background for my taste, while the attribution one required, well, attribution. So i made one for those just looking for a free sound. Enjoy. The sound of a hermes baby travel typewriter in action, typing sentences. The paper is initially wound up, then typing begins, then there is the ding at the end of each line.
